Some things are visible exactly once

During a fit out the walls are open, and then they are closed. A year later someone needs to know where a cable run went. Captured while it was open, that is a question you ask the scan instead of a wall you open again.

A photo cannot tell you where

A picture of a defect proves it exists. It does not tell the engineer which riser, which floor, or how far from the door. So someone goes back to find out.
